Web Search Engines

The most common web site engines are ..

Names: Google, Yahoo!, Bing, and Ask
Access: http://www.google.com, http://www.yahoo.com, http://www.bing.com, http://ask.com
Frequency: 10+ Times per Day
Information: Google, Yahoo, Bing, and Ask are great resources for beginner searches, but is a very powerful tool once you learn to use advanced search techniques like special syntax. This will help you narrow down information substantially and help find more valid information. I personally use Google the most.
Query: Too many to count.
Evaluation: (7/10) These search engines compared against each other are pretty similar. In the context of all other resources, they are very good, but only when you search for the "right thing". Otherwise, the abundance of information generated by these power search engines will overpower and bury any information information. The best part about these tools is that they are immediately linked to other forms of search such as image search and news search.
Miscellaneous: These are great starting points for search and lets you search the web, news, images, and video all in one place. However, there is the Deep Web which it does not search and a lot of user generated content that is good but may not show up at the top of the millions of returns any of these engines may get you. Don't be afraid to explore all the other tools available!
